Today I decided to clean up my old emails. And I found a particularly lovely message from Mort sent nearly year ago. He was suggesting that I try his recipe for Kichel.
What is Kichel? It is a very light and airy Jewish cookie made with an outrageous amount of egg yolks and flour, rolled in sugar. And, surprisingly, it is often eaten with a savory such as herring!
So, today I decided to make a batch of Kichel in Mort’s memory. I’ll be bring a few bags to the market tomorrow.
